A periodic consciousness-literacy check-in. Reviews practice history and maps the current literacy level per modality cluster — somatic, perceptual, relational, attentional — tracking development over weeks and months. This is reflective self-assessment, not a clinical or diagnostic measurement.

The Four Clusters

Literacy is tracked separately per cluster, because skill in one does not transfer automatically to another. A person can sit at different levels in different clusters, and that is expected.

The Four Levels

The same four ordered labels apply inside every cluster. They are ordered, not scored: nascent comes before developing, but the distance between them is not a number.

Nascent	Notices a state mostly afterward, and needs full external structure to enter it
Developing	Recognises a state as it arises and can enter a familiar practice with a cue
Established	Enters, sustains, and leaves a practiced state on purpose in a supportive setting
Embodied	The capacity is portable, available in ordinary life, and can be adapted or taught

There is no level above embodied. Fluency deepens without end, but the taxonomy stops there on purpose, so no one treats literacy as a ladder to worth.

Research Basis

Evidence level: Self-report reflection tool, not a psychometric instrument

The four-level taxonomy is a self-report anchor drawn from Carl Hayden Smith's consciousness-literacy framing (practices build fluency the way letters build reading literacy), extended with the swarm's own modality clusters. It has no published norms, no cutoff scores, and no diagnostic meaning. A higher level names more practice, not more worth, and does not predict any health outcome. This tool does not replace medical or psychological care.

Safety

• shared/crisis-response.md is loaded: reviewing practice history can surface distress (a hard season, a disrupted practice, a difficult memory), and the audit needs an escalation path ready, not just a reflection prompt.
• shared/outcome-measurement.md frames the longitudinal approach: measure honestly, report humbly, protect data fiercely, and never use the audit to prove a practice "works."
• Movement backward in a cluster (established slipping to developing after illness, stress, or a long gap) is treated as ordinary data, not failure or loss of worth.
• No level is ever tied to a promised outcome, and no cluster rating is compared between people.

Quality Gates

Before output is finalized:

• Each cluster (somatic, perceptual, relational, attentional) rated separately against its own observable markers, never against a felt sense of "how advanced"
• Levels presented as ordered, not scored — no numeric conversion or cross-person ranking
• Movement backward framed as ordinary data, never as a loss of worth
• Self-report framing stated explicitly: no published norms, no cutoff scores, not a diagnostic tool
• Longitudinal trend reported per cluster over the stated period, not a single-session snapshot (for single-session states, use /sound-consciousness)
• No claim that a level predicts or certifies any health outcome
